The Caribbean is where the disinsection requirement is most often discovered late, because the flying is so routine. A Gulfstream out of Opa-Locka is in Montego Bay before the coffee is finished. It is still an international arrival, and Jamaica and Barbados both require the aircraft to have been disinsected.
Jamaica
Jamaica requires disinsection on inbound international flights and its port health authorities look for arriving aircraft to have been treated. Montego Bay, Kingston and Ian Fleming International at Ocho Rios are the usual arrival points for business aviation. Dengue is a recurring public-health concern across the region, and Jamaica controls the aircraft pathway like its neighbours.
Barbados
Barbados requires disinsection on inbound international flights and expects the documentation to be aboard and available for inspection on arrival at Grantley Adams. It is a popular winter destination for US operators, and the requirement applies to every arrival regardless of the length of the flight.
Why the short sector is the trap
Operators associate disinsection with long-haul flying to Australia or Asia, and a ninety-minute hop does not feel like the kind of flight that carries international health requirements. It does. The requirement is set by the arriving country and turns on where the aircraft came from, not how long it took. An aircraft that arrives untreated is treated on arrival with passengers aboard, exactly as it would be at the end of a fourteen-hour flight.

It covers the flight, the certificate goes aboard with the flight documents, and the aircraft lands compliant. Island-hopping

The short version
