Aircraft Disinsection Requirements for Flights to Chile From the US

Chile requires every aircraft arriving from abroad to be disinsected, private and business aircraft expressly included, under an agricultural rule administered by SAG. For a non-stop flight from the US, the per-flight ground aerosol at the airport of origin that SAG describes is our pre-embarkation treatment, with the sworn declaration prepared for the inspector.
Why Chile requires aircraft disinsection
Mainland Chile has stayed largely free of Aedes aegypti and SAG intends to keep it that way. Resolution 147 of 2022 and GEN 1.3 of the AIP require a sworn declaration of treatment, in Spanish or English with fifteen mandatory fields, available to the SAG inspector on arrival. Products must be authorised by the competent authority of the country of origin. Non-compliance can mean refusal to unload, immediate disinsection at the operator’s cost, and sanctions.

In Chile, an aircraft that arrives treated, ventilated and boarded in the normal way, carrying the documents listed above for Chile, with the treatment recorded on the crew’s General Declaration and the used cans retained on board. An aircraft that arrives in Chile without a verified treatment is typically treated on arrival with passengers aboard, under supervision, sometimes at the operator’s expense.
