Morocco has become one of the easier long trips in US business aviation: Casablanca and Marrakech sit within non-stop range of the East Coast, handling is well practiced, and the paperwork is familiar. One item still surprises crews on their first Moroccan arrival, and that is disinsection.
Morocco expects arriving aircraft to be treated
Morocco requires disinsection on arriving international aircraft, and the requirement applies to private and corporate arrivals just as it does to airlines. A flight from the US into Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat or Tangier should land with the treatment done and the certificate aboard.
The context is regional. Morocco sits at the edge of the Mediterranean, where authorities have watched Aedes mosquitoes spread northward in recent years, and disinsecting arriving aircraft is part of the country’s vector-control posture. The requirement is about the aircraft as a pathway, not about the passengers on it.
Disinsection, briefly
An insecticide treatment of the aircraft interior, performed to a recognized method and recorded with a certificate. It is a different thing from cleaning and from disinfection, and only the disinsection certificate answers the question the arrival authority is asking. The governing reference is the World Health Organization’s Aircraft Disinsection Methods and Procedures, 2nd edition (2023).
Why this trip is the easy case
Flown non-stop, a US to Morocco sector is the simplest disinsection plan there is. Pre-embarkation treatment happens at your departure airport: the empty aircraft is treated with a WHO-approved aerosol before boarding, ventilated, and boarded after the required wait. The treatment covers the sector, the certificate rides with the flight documents, and the cabin is never sprayed with anyone aboard. There is nothing to arrange on the Moroccan side.
If your routing stops in Europe on the way, the plan changes, because the treatment belongs at the last stop before Morocco. Send us the full itinerary and we will confirm where it should happen.
Arrival
Your crew carries the disinsection certificate with the flight documents and completes the General Declaration with the treatment details we hand them. That is what the health officer wants to see, and with it the check is over quickly.
The short version
Morocco requires disinsection on flights arriving from the US. For a non-stop departure, pre-embarkation treatment at your US airport satisfies it and produces the certificate. Tell us your departure point and date and we will confirm the details for your aircraft.
