Aircraft Disinsection Requirements for Flights to Greece From the US

Greece made aircraft disinsection mandatory in 2025 for aircraft arriving from areas where the Aedes aegypti mosquito is established, and its Ministry of Health list names ten US states, Florida, Texas and California among them. A business jet leaving one of those states for Athens or the islands is in scope, and so is one that stops in a listed area on the way.
Why Greece requires aircraft disinsection
Greek authorities introduced the measure to keep Aedes aegypti from establishing along the Mediterranean. The rule is set out in a Joint Ministerial Decision and in AIP Greece AIC 03/25, and enforcement is real: an aircraft arriving without valid proof can be isolated on the ramp and kept from refuelling or disembarking until it is treated.

What the arrival authority sees.
In Greece, an aircraft that arrives treated, ventilated and boarded in the normal way, carrying the documents listed above for Greece, with the treatment recorded on the crew’s General Declaration and the used cans retained on board. An aircraft that arrives in Greece without a verified treatment is typically treated on arrival with passengers aboard, under supervision, sometimes at the operator’s expense.
